Cr Mitchell Griffin
Councillor Mitchell Griffin, who is in his first term as a councillor, has lived in the Maitland area for more than 10 years with his wife and two young children. He has worked in health care for almost 15 years and decided to run for Council because he wanted to ensure that the whole of Maitland has strong representation on Council.
Mitchell wants to bring Council back to basics and focus on rates, roads and rubbish but he also wants to get the city ready for the future.
‘This is an exciting time for Maitland with so much development and growth happening in and around the city. I want to make sure residents have the infrastructure they need and I think we need to stay ahead of the game in regards to technology, too’.
He is hoping to be part of the evolution of Council to ensure Maitland continues to develop as a smart city and a great place to live and work.
Mitchell is the chairman of the Newcastle Supercar Supporters Club which along with supporting the upcoming event in Newcastle East, encourages young drivers in the area to enter the sport. He’s also a foundation member of the H2O Baptist Church.
