Council supporting local food and beverage businesses
Following the NSW Government’s announcement yesterday that licenced venues across NSW will be able to provide takeaway and home delivery services, Council has today confirmed it will be relaxing enforcement to allow all restaurants, cafés and bars to provide takeaway and delivery services on a temporary basis during the evolving Coronavirus (COVID-19) situation.
Council wants to support businesses and maximise their opportunities to maintain a revenue stream and avoid potential closure. In doing this, we need to ensure that food and beverage businesses across Maitland understand that they can adapt their business model. It is hoped that this will assist with business viability.
The provision of takeaway and home delivery services from local businesses will enable members of the public to access goods and services with minimum exposure to risk of infection from Coronavirus.
Council will review the need for this approach once the crisis period has subsided.
Council will today begin contacting as many food and beverage businesses as possible to advise them of our approach. Our aim is to continually update the MyMaitland website so that locals know how to get behind local food and beverage businesses.
