Operating a food business
Find out what's required to operate ANY food business in Maitland.
If you want to operate a food business in Maitland the following steps will guide you through what is required:
All food businesses must register with NSW Fair Trading and ensure the Food Standards Code, the Food Act and Food Regulation are adhered to.
All food businesses need to register with Council by completing a food business (fixed premises) notification form. This can be submitted to Council by posting to PO Box 220, Maitland NSW 2320, emailing: info@maitland.nsw.gov.au or in person with Council's Customer Experience Team.
Please note: This includes new businesses, when taking over an existing food business and/or for change of contact details.
A Food Safety Supervisor, in most cases, is to be nominated and their details need to be provided to Council on the food business registration form.
