Waste voucher
Council sends out the waste vouchers in July, which residents are then able to use to dispose of domestic waste. They are posted directly to the household to be utilised by the occupier. They are not intended necessarily for the rate payer, especially if the rate payer does not reside there.
Conditions apply
- The voucher can only be used for loads up to 400kg. Waste in excess of 400kg will be charged at the applicable disposal rates.
- The voucher can only be used by persons residing at the address (photo ID is required).
- Recyclable material must be separated and unloaded in the designated recycling areas.
- The voucher cannot be used for commercial waste, tyres, mattresses, mattress bases, asbestos or other special waste.
- The voucher is for a single use only and must be surrendered at the time of disposal. No copies accepted and not transferrable or redeemable for cash.
- When disposing of your waste at the Waste Management Centre you must adhere to all site rules.
- The voucher will expire at the end of each financial year and will not be accepted past its expiry.
Voucher use and re-issue
Vouchers are unique to each property and identified with a barcode that cannot be scanned more than once. The use of vouchers is recorded in Council's electronic records management system. Should you have a grievance with the use of a properties allocated voucher we can check when the voucher was used and advise you of the date and time. Sometimes another family member has tended to rubbish around the home and used the voucher without you being aware or potentially the voucher was used prior to you moving in or purchasing the property.
If the voucher allocated to your property has been claimed the next available voucher will not be issued until the new eligibility period, being 1 July.
If you have misplaced or have not received your waste voucher than you can apply for a replacement voucher by completing the Waste Voucher Application Form and submitting it to Council with proof of residency.
Did you know... there are a range of other waste initiatives and Council services that provide free waste and recycling opportunities for residents:
- household hazardous waste drop-off days throughout the year in association with the NSW Environmental Protection Authority. Find out when the next Chemical CleanOut event is in your area.
- Mattress Musters give residents the opportunity to get rid of their old, unwanted mattresses and for them to be given new life as roof sheeting and carpet underlay to name a few. Keep your eye out on the 'what's on' page for upcoming dates.
- The following problem wastes should never be placed into kerbside bins and can be dropped off at the Community Recycling Centre free of charge at Mt Vincent Road Waste Management Centre: (household quantities apply)
