About
Council has pledged to do its part to end homelessness.
We will build on our current actions to address homelessness, and support and promote the efforts of our community to end homelessness. We will advocate for change and enlist the support of our colleagues, businesses, local agencies and the community to join this important effort, and let local leaders know that we support The Newcastle and Hunter Ending Homelessness Pledge.
To help connect people who are experiencing or at risk of homelessness, Council has developed a resource that brings together information about local services including accommodation, disability and supported living, food and emergency relief, health and wellbeing supports, employment and financial help, animal welfare as well as referral contacts across Maitland.
Homelessness services and support
There is a range of local services for people experiencing or at risk of homelessness. Hunter Homeless Connect Inc. is a volunteer not-for-profit organisation that coordinates the annual Hunter Homeless Connect Day event and the Connecting the Hunter Program.
They also collate an annual directory of support services available across the Hunter.
