Maitland Centres Study (2009)

In any study of centres, it is important to recognise the dynamic nature of retail, commercial and urban support services. The impacts of population and socioeconomic changes, coupled with advances in technology and lifestyle habits, are giving rise to new retail and workplace concepts, strategies, formats and experiences.

The significant population growth and residential development that our city is forecast to experience by 2031 means there will be a substantial increase in demand for local employment opportunities and service provision, which results in the need to carefully plan and enhance the function of centres and employment lands.
